JOB TITLE: Senior Consultant, Corporate Strategy & Innovation

Position Summary

Corporate Strategy & Innovation is responsible for:

  • Leadership, direction and expertise in the development of business strategy, strategic management disciplines and business analytics that support the company's mission, vision and valuation objectives, in close collaboration with business leaders
  • Management of Enterprise innovation pipeline, resources and forums (e.g., EC innovation subcommittee, Innovation Collaboration Forum), and execution of enterprise funded innovation programs
  • Corporate venture capital portfolio, relationships with funds and startup companies, and industry research to shape business strategies, identify innovations for internal build and/or external partnership, and maintain a pipeline for potential minority investments and future M&As

    Accountabilities in this role
    • Identify and scope early-stage innovation opportunities (e.g., Pre-Idea, Ideation) for Cardinal Health, and build strategic advocacy in the organization around an offering
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders, design teams and external/internal SMEs to define and communicate the vision for an offering
    • Support a cross-functional team through the stage-gate transition process (e.g., Ideation to Concept) as appropriate
    • Support and partner on Innovation Guide led mid/late-stage innovation projects as appropriate
    • Support tracking innovation programs across Cardinal Health, measuring performance and reporting progress as appropriate
    • Prepares for and coordinate discussions with the EC innovation subcommittee and business leaders
    • Drive, execute and continuously evolve Cardinal Health's innovation approach/playbook and innovative culture
    • Manage/coordinate shared innovation resources, if appropriate (e.g., market research)

      Qualifications
      • BS/BA required; MBA preferred
      • 2+ years' experience in an innovation function required; 5+ years overall industry experience preferred
      • Broad understanding of the U.S. healthcare ecosystem (e.g., payers, providers, suppliers)
      • Ability to navigate and collaborate across functional areas in a large organization
      • Resourceful and motivated self-starter
      • Strong leadership skills, innovative thinking and problem-solving capabilities
      • Ability to navigate and collaborate across functional areas in a large organization
      • Excellent project management skills
      • Advanced command of MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook) at the level of preparing memos and presentations for an executive-level audience and building simple models
      • Presentation & Communication skills: must demonstrate clear, concise articulation of proposed actions, illustrating opportunity, alternatives, recommendation and associated economics

        What is expected of you and others at this level
        • Manages a large, complex set of cross-functional innovation programs, applying understanding of concepts, principles, and cross-business knowledge
        • Interfaces with a wide range of key stakeholders across the enterprise (e.g., individual innovation teams, innovation guides and scouts, and the EC innovation subcommittee), using subject matter expertise, influence and process skills to drive consensus
        • Demonstrates passion about growth, innovation and employee interactions
        • Recommends and implements new practices, processes, metrics, or models
        • Proactively think ahead of the curve (entrepreneurial thinking)
        • Evaluates alternative solutions and highlights tradeoffs
        • Acts as a mentor to less experienced colleagues, and build trust and strong relationships at all levels

          The Senior Consultant, Corporate Strategy & Innovation will report into VP, Corporate Strategy & Innovation. S/he will be responsible for identifying and curating early-stage innovation opportunities, and improving discipline in the Cardinal Health innovation process.
