Strategically located in the Tri-Valley region of the San Francisco
Bay Area at the intersection of I-580 and I-680, the City of Dublin
(Calif.) has consistently been one of the fastest growing cities in
Alameda County for the past several years. In 2010, the City
reported a population of 57,043 within 14.59 square miles with the
population projected to exceed 62,000. The City will be served by
two BART stations which provide great access from Dublin to other
parts of the Bay Area. Since the City's incorporation in 1982, the
City's population has progressively increased as both residents and
businesses have found the benefit of calling Dublin "home."
The region is known for its mild climate and many amenities,
including shopping, restaurants, public and private golf courses,
and several wineries. The area is home to some of the largest
corporations, and is close to several major universities, including
the University of California, Berkeley; University of California,
San Francisco; University of San Francisco, as well as many
community colleges. Affordable housing, a low crime rate, and award
winning schools make Dublin a great community in which to live and
work. Recreational amenities abound in Dublin and the surrounding
Bay Area and Dublin residents exhibit a high level of interest in
the arts and historic preservation.
The City of Dublin was incorporated in 1982 as a general law city
and has a Council/Manager form of government. The City employs
approximately 83 full-time Staff and up to 227 part-time and
contract employees including Police and Fire Services which are
contracted through the County of Alameda. The Fiscal Year 2009-2010
Operating Budget totals $37.6 million, and the capital budget
totals $31.1 million. The City of Dublin is continually striving to

The City of Dublin provides many opportunities for volunteerism in
our community. Find out where you might best be suited to
Junior Warriors Basketball League
* Youth Basketball Coaching (Must be at least 18 years old)-Fun
opportunity to work with youth in the community. Individuals who
are interested in coaching Junior Warriors Basketball are
encouraged to apply now by completing the application here and fill
out the Volunteer Coach application.
* Youth Basketball Referee/Scorekeeper (Must be at least 15 years
old)-Great opportunity for youth to be a part of a team and to
learn about sports operations.
Shannon Community Center & Family Services
Apply for one of the many opportunities where you can learn the ins
and outs of the youth recreation and family services divisions
within the City of Dublin Parks and Community Services Department.
The Shannon Community Center relies on volunteers to help serve the
youth and families in the Dublin community.
There are four basic categories of volunteer opportunities:
* Afterschool Programs
* Birthday Parties - Set Up birthday parties and make someone's
special day even better
* Memorial Day to Labor Day 11am-6pm 7 Days a week
* Labor Day to Memorial Day 1-4pm Saturday and Sunday
* Bag Check - Perform bag check for rec swim and waterpark
* Memorial Day to Labor Day 11am-6pm Monday-Sunday
* Labor Day to Memorial Day 1pm-4pm Saturday and Sunday
* Swim Lesson Check In - help swimmers get to right location for
their swim class
* Monday-Thursday 4pm-8pm, Saturdays 9am-1pm and Sundays
* Morning hours available in summer
Dublin Pride Week (Every April)
* Senior Projects - Assist elderly citizens in taking care of home
maintenance projects such as house cleaning, yard work, washing
windows, painting, etc.
* School Projects - Complete designated school improvement and
* Creek and City Park Projects - Complete designated park
improvement and beautification projects.
Special Events and Festivals
The City of Dublin produces more than 75 events each year including
the St. Patrick's Day Festival, Splatter, Tree Lighting, Summer
Concerts, and many more. Volunteer opportunities for special events
are generally short-term commitments and good for teens needing
school and club community service hours. These opportunities are
also good for families and organizations that are looking to be a
part of a large community event and give back to the community. A
typical volunteer shift is a weeknight, Saturday, or Sunday and
requires a three-to-six-hour commitment.
Heritage Park and Museums
Dublin's Heritage Park and Museums is a 10-acre park with historic
buildings, lawns, pioneer cemetery, and picnic areas. The park is
designed to maintain and tell the history of Dublin. The park is
open to the public during daylight hours with varying schedules for
the museums and other facilities.
* History Docents and Interpretive Guides - Assist with greeting
the public and providing historical information during open museum
hours, guided tours, and other events that are integral to the

The Dublin Senior Center, located at 7600 Amador Valley Boulevard,
relies heavily on volunteers to serve Dublin's 50 and better crowd.
We are looking for individuals with friendly and patient
personalities to be volunteer greeters, office assistants, or
instructors. Help us serve the senior community by "creating
rewarding friendships, intriguing activities, and a lifestyle of
* Administrative/Clerical - Volunteers will assist with answering
phones, greeting customers, checking in visitors and more. These
positions typically work 2-4 hour shifts and it requires and
ongoing weekly commitment.
* Volunteer Instructor - Have a hobby, passion, or other interest
you want to share with others? Join the City as a volunteer
instructor and share your interest with other seniors in the
* Events and One-Time Opportunities - Several opportunities arise
throughout the year including planned special events, special

The City is always accepting volunteer applications, though there
may not be a need for volunteers at the time of submission. Please
