Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response.Position SummaryThe Core Programs team works closely with Major Projects and Programs (MPP) and other lines of business (LOB) across Electric Operations (EO) to coordinate metric development/analysis and monitor and report on MPP performance. Activities include implementing Asset Strategy's annual goals and targets into individual scorecards and visualizations, conducting analysis and deep dives on variances, forecasts and operational trends, monitoring and reporting on operational, productivity and efficiency metrics and recommending operational improvements and potential mitigations. The team manages the annual refresh of MPP strategic areas of focus as well as regular status reports to the leadership team. The group also serves as the central business analyst team in support of the program managers across some of MPP's largest Capital work areas.Job ResponsibilitiesLeads cross-functional teams to support the development of metrics, scorecards, dashboards, and performance analyticsPartners with all levels across EO to gather, analyze and monitor operational results and develop variance explanations; presents results and recommendations on operational performance, efficiency, and productivity scorecard metrics to leadership.Provides insights into operational results and strategic advice to Senior Manager and Director as neededConducts analysis, reporting and tracking of units, unit cost and hours per unitUtilizes analysis, best practices, and benchmark comparisons to recommend and implement improvements and corrective actionsForecasts year-end results based on current trends, provides recommendations on improvements and corrective actions to MPP leadershipProvides ad-hoc in-depth analysis on complex issues to provide recommendations on solutionsProvides data gathering and Business Analyst support to multiple regulatory filingsServes as mentor to Program Managers and AnalystsLeads cross-functional teams on cross cutting initiativesCollaborates heavily with program managersSignificant SAP, Excel, Power BI, and Tableau work, including leveraging multiple reports and manipulating data pullsSupport EOC initiatives as assignedQualificationsMinimum:Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, business administration or comparable quantitative field or equivalent related work experience.6 years of analytical experience including budget, finance, economics, mathematics, operational statistics, field engineering, data analysis, and/or work planning.Desired:Utility, energy or regulatory industry experience, specifically in utility operations.Broad understanding of utility or energy industry drivers, issues and trends.Strong knowledge of long-term strategic business planning theories, concepts, practices, methods and techniques.Strong data analysis, benchmarking, monitoring and business/financial analysis skills including knowledge of varied analytical methods.Expert analytical problem solving and decision-making skills to develop comprehensive solutions.Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.Adaptable to changing business conditions and ambiguity.Overall knowledge of Executive level Business Plan Review (BPR) metrics and reportsExpertise in technical / professional concepts of performance management and data analysis.Effectively gains buy-in from leaders inside and outside of the department.Advanced skills in SAP Systems - SAP R/3, BW, Business Objects, AO, etcAdvanced skills in Microsoft Office.Executive communication and presentation skills
