Position OverviewPower your future with Qualus in our
Information Technology department as an IT Sr. Systems
Administrator. The IT Sr. System Administrator is a vital member of
the Qualus IT infrastructure team and plays an important role in
ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of the
organization's computer systems and network infrastructure. This
role requires expertise in Windows and Linux system administration,
ensuring the seamless operation of enterprise environments.The
senior system administrator will be responsible for installing,
configuring, and maintaining servers (Windows & Linux), network
equipment, and computer systems while also monitoring system
performance to identify and resolve technical issues. The role will
also require planning and executing software and hardware upgrades
to support internal customers.Additionally, the senior system
administrator is expected to stay up-to-date with new technologies
and industry developments, mentor and train junior administrators,
and collaborate with other IT staff, developers, and stakeholders
to meet project requirements.A service-oriented mindset, strong
customer focus, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems
across both Windows and Linux environments are critical to success
in this role. This position requires after-hours work as determined
by the needs of the business.Responsibilities
- Manage IT Service Desk requests assigned using an online
ticketing system.
- Maintain an understanding of cybersecurity and information
protection standards (NIST 800-37, 800-53, 800-171, NERC-CIP, SOC
2, ISO 27001/27002).
- Exercise due diligence in all areas of system activation,
security, maintenance, and operability.
- Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in a fast-growing
environment by embracing new technologies, tools, processes, and
policies.
- Provide upgrades to system configuration standards, hosted and
cloud applications, and be available for overtime as required to
meet business needs.
- Identify repetitive patterns of technical issues to uncover
root causes and provide solutions to increase security, compliance,
efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Deliver world-class customer service, ensuring a high level of
user satisfaction.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, security, and
mobile device issues.
- Provide support for both Windows and Linux servers in
enterprise environments.
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, and computer
systems.
- Monitor system performance, diagnose, and resolve Windows and
Linux-related issues.
- Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and access
control across Windows, Linux, and cloud environments.
- Plan and execute software and hardware upgrades.
- Stay up-to-date with Windows, Linux, and cloud technologies,
ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Automate administrative tasks through PowerShell, Bash, or
Python scripting.
- Work with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or
Chef) to automate deployments and ensure system compliance.
- Administer virtualized environments (VMware, KVM, or
Hyper-V).
- Ensure compliance with security policies by enforcing Linux
hardening techniques (CIS benchmarks).
- Collaborate with IT staff, developers, and stakeholders to meet
project requirements.
- Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps
for knowledge transfer and operational continuity.
- Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work
experience.
- Certifications in Microsoft MCP, MCSE, O365, Network Pro,
Security Pro or A+.
- Minimum of 7-10 years' of solid experience working in an IT
technical support role.
- Advanced knowledge of Windows Server infrastructure (Active
Directory, Group Policy, DNS).
- Strong Active Directory knowledge and experience (Entra
ADConnect).
- Experience with VMware.
- Windows 10/11 and Linux system administration and
configuration.
- Patch management for Windows Servers and Linux systems (WSUS,
SCCM, Satellite, YUM/DNF, APT).
- Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP,
routing, VLANs).
- Experience with log management and monitoring tools (Syslog,
Windows Event Viewer).
- Linux security hardening (CIS benchmarks, SELinux, AppArmor,
SSH hardening).
- Experience troubleshooting Linux file systems, disk partitions,
and RAID configurations.
- Strong knowledge of secure authentication mechanisms (Kerberos,
LDAP, SAML, OAuth).
- Working knowledge of ITIL best practices.
- Architect, configure, implement and support VMware, and
Microsoft App-V.
- Solid experience with DNS record management.HIGHLY DESIRED
SKILLS:
- Experience with Linux LVM, XFS, EXT4, and ZFS.
- Experience with cloud-based Windows and Linux environments
(AWS, Azure).
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker,
Kubernetes).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform,
CloudFormation).
- Knowledge of PKI, SSL/TLS certificates, and encryption
methods.
- Experience implementing NFS, SMB, CIFS, and iSCSI storage
solutions.
- Experience with Linux firewalls (iptables, firewalld, UFW) and
Windows Firewall policies.
- Strong understanding of Syslog, and SIEM.
- Leadership skills: Ability to lead and mentor junior staff, as
well as work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Attention to detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to
follow established processes and procedures.
- Organization skills: Ability to keep track of multiple tasks,
prioritize responsibilities, and manage time effectively.
- Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written
communication skills, including the ability to communicate
technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong working knowledge of IT service management ITIL related
services Change management, Configuration management, Asset
management, Incident management, Problem management, etc.PREFERRED
SKILLS:
- ESXi with vCenter.
- Azure/Entra Administration.
- Configuration Manager (MECM).
