Description:Lenovo's Chief Technology Office (CTO) is seeking a
highly analytical and strategic thinker to join our team as the
Senior Scientist, AI Ecosystem Partnerships & Technology
Incubation. This pivotal role is responsible for applying a
rigorous, analytical approach to understanding the rapidly evolving
Artificial Intelligence landscape, anticipating key technology
shifts, and translating these external dynamics into actionable
insights that inform Lenovo's strategic direction.You will serve as
a central intelligence hub for AI, constantly monitoring
technological advancements, market developments, and competitive
movements across the global ecosystem (academia, startups,
industry). Your primary focus will be on high-level analysis -
identifying the crucial trends, understanding their implications,
and assessing their relevance to Lenovo's businesses and future
opportunities through data-driven insights. You will work in close
collaboration with the AI Ecosystem Partnerships team, internal
strategy groups, and technical leadership to ensure Lenovo stays
ahead of the curve in leveraging AI innovation.What You'll Do:
- Monitor & Analyze: Continuously track and analyze the global AI
landscape, including emerging research, key technology advancements
(e.g., Generative AI, Foundation Models, Edge AI, Responsible AI),
startup activities, industry adoption patterns, and competitive
intelligence.
- Synthesize & Identify Trends: Distill complex information from
diverse sources into clear, concise insights using analytical
frameworks. Identify significant short-term and long-term AI
trends, technological inflection points, and potential market
disruptions.
- Strategic Assessment: Evaluate the strategic relevance and
potential impact of identified AI trends on Lenovo's current and
future products, services, solutions, and internal operations.
Assess opportunities and risks based on evidence and analysis.
- Understand Internal Context: Develop a strong understanding of
Lenovo's strategic priorities, business unit needs, product
roadmaps, and internal AI capabilities to effectively contextualize
external trends.
- Inform & Advise: Develop and deliver compelling narratives,
strategic briefs, landscape analyses, trend reports, and
presentations grounded in data and analysis to communicate findings
and strategic recommendations to technical leaders, strategy teams,
and senior executives.
- Collaborate: Work closely with the AI Ecosystem Partnerships
lead to share insights that can guide partnership targeting.
Collaborate with internal R&D, product teams, and strategy
groups to provide foresight and inform decision-making.
- Maintain Knowledge Base: Curate and maintain an up-to-date
knowledge base and intelligence reports on critical AI domains and
trends relevant to Lenovo.Position Requirements:Basic
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master's, MBA, or PhD) in Computer Science,
Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field
with a strong quantitative and analytical component.
- 5+ years of experience in roles focused on technology analysis,
market intelligence, competitive analysis, technology strategy,
quantitative analysis, or management consulting within the
technology sector, with a significant focus on AI/ML.
- Strong understanding of core AI/ML concepts, major domains, and
the broader technology ecosystem.
- Proven ability to research, analyze large datasets, and
synthesize complex technical and market information into clear,
evidence-based insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with
experience presenting complex topics to diverse audiences,
including senior leadership.Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in a relevant technical or business field (if not already
the qualifying advanced degree).
- Experience specifically focused on AI market analysis, AI
strategy development, or AI-related competitive intelligence
applying quantitative or scientific methodologies.
- Ability to connect technological possibilities with business
strategy and market opportunities through rigorous analysis.
- Strong critical thinking and strategic problem-solving
skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple
priorities, and deliver high-quality analysis in a dynamic
environment.
- Experience collaborating effectively across technical,
business, and strategy functions within a large organization.
- Natural curiosity and a passion for understanding emerging
technologies and their potential impact, driven by a desire for
objective understanding.
- Familiarity with technology adoption cycles, market forecasting
methodologies, and potentially data analysis/visualization
tools.The base salary range budgeted for this position in CA, CO,
Jersey City - NJ, NV, Ithaca - NY, NYC, WA, is $200k - $240k.
Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
