It is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance, operations, construction, restoration and emergency response. This position is located within the Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP), which is responsible for maintaining and operating 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipelines throughout northern and central California.The Gas Asset Risk Mitigation Strategy (ARMS) team is responsible for supporting safety programs that reduces risk of threats to gas transmission pipelines. The mission of the team is to advance pipeline safety, pipeline integrity, and system reliability through proactive risk-informed decision-making. This position is located within the Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP), which is responsible for maintaining and operating 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipelines throughout northern and central California.Position SummaryThis career level Technical Specialist position will assist in maintaining geospatial data repositories as well as creating visualizations for reporting. The successful candidate will work directly with the expert Technical Specialist to support programs that deals with cross-functional teams and to ensure proper data collection and management of program data, manage program inquiries, as well as deliver effective communication. Duties may include but are not limited to-

  • Works independently under limited direction and guidance
  • Respond to requests for GIS queries or maps for special projects
  • Assist with gathering, integration, and quality control procedures for geospatial data with large impact and risk to LOB or function
  • Assist with managing delivery of GIS-related data development projects, gather input and agreement on new requirements, implementation, communication, training, and documentation efforts.
  • Work with IT support teams to resolve day-to-day production issues and quickly respond to issues to minimize the business interruptions.
  • Work on cross-functional projects with other work groups and vendors, troubleshoot issues, produce technical communication,
  • Develop metrics and process improvement programs for GIS- related work processes.Minimal travel - travel to field sites for training and team building about 5 times a year.Hybrid work with regular (monthly) in-person attendance in the Bishop Ranch office or the San Ramon Valley Conference Center.This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location (San Ramon, CA) based on business need. PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.A reasonable salary range is:Bay Area Minimum:$93,000Bay Area Maximum:$139,000This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.Job Responsibilities
    • Provide user support with GIS tools / functionality
    • Provide GIS support and data integration.
    • Gather, integrate, and convert data from various sources into ArcGIS databases
    • Develop and perform data gathering, data integration and quality control procedures for geospatial data, interface with data source systems to resolve issues
    • Respond to requests for GIS queries or maps for special projects.
    • Create and update metadata and catalog GIS layers, including documenting work flow procedures for staff using GIS, both in the office and in the field.
    • Develop and refresh GIS data for PG&E's external GIS web sites and public outreach programs
    • Support the preparation of annual reports to FERC, (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), SEC (Security and Exchange Commission), OPS (Office of Pipeline Safety) and CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission).
    • Support enterprise GIS data modeling and data capture initiatives as well as software functionality review.
    • Assess and coordinate GIS software and hardware needs of the department, evaluate new GIS software and databases
    • Work collaboratively with other work groups and vendors, troubleshoot issues, produce technical communication
    • Continually identify opportunities for improvement in the way work is done, share expertise and lessons learned
    • Demonstrate by personal action a 100% commitment to employee and public safety.
    • Accurately identify Safety Critical Elements.
    • Provide integrity assurance input to the Integrity Management Program group.Qualifications-Minimum:
      • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience
      • 3 years of experience with GIS applications
      • 1 year of experience in ArcGIS 9.x or later.
        Desired:
        • Bachelor's Degree, in engineering, geography, cartography, planning, computer science or related field
        • ArcGIS Online (AGOL) development and maintenance
        • Proficiency in a programming language - Shell script, Python, or Visual Basic
        • Utility or Pipeline industry experience.
        • Integrity Management experience.
        • Knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192
        • Experience with statistical sampling and data analytics
        • Communication, presentation and teamwork skills
        • Proficiency in team leadership and project management
        • Certified GIS Professional
