Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fund Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Venture Capital and Private Equity accounting, with 2-5 years of relevant work experience. Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day accounting operations for multiple Venture Capital and Private Equity funds Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements Calculate and record management fees, carried interest, and other fund-related expenses Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closings for assigned funds Reconcile bank statements, investment accounts, and other financial records Assist in the preparation of investor reports, capital calls, and distributions Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and tax preparation processes Monitor and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies Participate in the valuation process for portfolio companies Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures Collaborate with investment teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes Maintain accurate records of fund investments, including capital commitments, drawdowns, and distributions Prepare and analyze financial performance metrics for funds and individual investments Assist in the preparation of materials for investment committee meetings and board presentations Stay current with industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes affecting Venture Capital and Private Equity funds Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 2-5 years of work experience in fund accounting, with a focus on Venture Capital and Private Equity Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred: CPA certification or progress towards obtaining CPA Experience with fund administration software (e.g., eFront, Investran, or similar) Knowledge of partnership taxation and related regulations Familiarity with alternative investment structures and vehicles Key Skills and Competencies In-depth knowledge of Venture Capital and Private Equity accounting principles and practices Strong understanding of fund structures, including limited partnerships and carried interest calculations
